I am refusing to use the rebranded name because, I'm annoyed about the rebrand. I'm annoyed about your direction, your lack of focus in key areas and your lack of communication. I said I'd never be a bitter former staff member, but it seems that I am.
Last year you spent a lot of money on a rebrand, this year you've cut 50% of your work force, entire departments have been decimated and peoples lives have been thrown upside down without notice. But you never really communicated to anyone why. You still don't, you're not telling the community what's happening and that's only going to hurt you. People will see that helpdesk tickets take longer

Photography... To Edit or Not to Edit?
Community Week
This is an important subject for the future of the photography community at deviantART and one that I hope will spark discussion, and the interest, of photographers and admirers. This article is intended for all skill levels but may be of particular interest to new photogs or even non-photographers.
Introduction
I cannot tell you how many times I have offered editing advice on a photograph that suggests tweaking the brightness, increasing the contrast, adding blur, and so on. Often times this advice is accepted or argued back with a defense of why the photographer does not agree with my opinion. However, too often I get respo

There are quite a few photographs on DeviantART that depict Jewellery and in particular Jewellery photography is popular within the Artisan Crafts and Still Life galleries. So here are some basic tips to capturing your Jewellery at its best whether you want to sell your products or just show them off..
Light Boxes
I've recently used one of these to do some commercial photography and they work quite well. They're great for photographing small items on white backgrounds and having that clean, sharp commercial look. For those that haven't used them before, Lightboxes are translucent surfaces illuminated from behind which are d

Gemstones
First of all, I won't differentiate between "precious"* and "semi-precious" gemstones in this article. Here's why: The term "semi-precious gemstone" is an old and rather unscientific term. The terms "precious" and "semi-precious" can be very misleading, as they imply certain stones are more valuable than others, even when that's not the case. The distinction between the two terms was used to reflect a gem's rarity, quality and "beauty", and because there's simply no sure, objective way to tell which gems are "precious" and which aren't, you won't find them in this article.
So, I will simply talk of "gems" or "gemst

As traditional artists, you probably have heard of prismacolor premier softcore color pencils (such a long name :O ) Just like any other brand, there are some cons that I will go over. I will also be briefly comparing prismas to faber castell polychromos. I hope this “guide” will help you with deciding whether or not to get prismas :la:Which set to buy?
I think everyone debates on this topic. Should I buy this set? What if it’s not enough? Maybe I don’t need all the colors? I personally debated with myself (LOL) for 1-2 months. There is the original 12, 24, 48

Have you ever had one of those times when you really feel like drawing but had no idea what to draw? Or have you ever had an artblock you've desperately wanted to get rid of? Art is super fun, but it sucks when you just can't draw when you really want to. Here are a few of mine and a few other artists' tips to get inspired, and hopefully it'll help you!
Okay let's start!
1. Make an OC
OCs, or original characters, are a great source of inspiration. If you have none, make one! It's super fun to design your own character, especially since it's original so you can go crazy with it! Think up a persona

Tutorial Time: How to scan and adjust images on Photoshop!
Hello everyone, welcome to this tutorial article of PE week! :la:
well, you know, there is this youtube channel where there's lots of videos regaring tips, tricks and general advice for artists, and it is the best I've seen of the kind. But sadly, it is only in portuguese - hence why cinyu (https://www.deviantart.com/cinyu) came up with the great idea of getting me to translate one of their videos! :la:
I decided to pick up this one regarding scanning and adjusting images on photoshop, because that is one of the most basic, yet worst parts for many traditional artists. This tutorial is mostly for scanning black and

Managing Your Deviations- A Hidden Menu!

Did You Know...
...DeviantART has a mass storage system of all your gallery deviations?...you can manage all of your gallery deviations from one location?...you can move deviations into "Storage" and essentially remove them from your gallery while preserving the page view, favorite, download, and other statistics?
THIS IS ALL 100% POSSIBLE!
Many of us have deviations in our galleries that you no longer have the computer file for and would be devastated if you lost them… Ever thought, "I really don't want to download each deviation to my computer or sta.sh but I just don't want them in my gallery any longer! Then there'
Gallery Descriptions
Welcome to the Typography part of projecteducate (https://www.deviantart.com/projecteducate)'s DeviantART Gallery Descriptions Month!
Today I will explain both the traditional and digital typography galleries on DA and I start off with Digital Typography. And I start off with the Traditional Gallery!
If you are interested into the background of typography, I recomment you read A Brief History of Typography, an article I wrote for a previous week at projecteducate (https://www.deviantart.com/projecteducate).
When it comes to typography, you should be aware that it is everywhere around you all the time. There is bad Typography and there is good Typography. Unfortunately less of the latter and mor
